Our Premium Iranian Saffron threads are among the finest in the world — hand-harvested from the delicate crimson stigmas of Crocus sativus flowers in the legendary saffron-growing regions of Iran, which produces over 90% of the world's saffron supply. 100% Pure Grade A Threads with deep crimson colour, intoxicating floral and honey-like aroma, and complex, slightly metallic flavour — just a pinch of these extraordinary threads transforms a dish entirely.
Saffron is the world's most precious spice by weight, and for good reason — each flower produces only three stigmas, all harvested by hand during a brief annual window. The result is a spice of extraordinary intensity and complexity that has been used in cooking, medicine, and ceremony for over 3,000 years.
Steep a pinch in warm water or milk for 10–15 minutes before adding to your dish to release the full colour and flavour. Essential for paella, risotto Milanese, Persian saffron rice, bouillabaisse, and saffron ice cream.
Key uses:
- Paella — the defining spice of authentic Spanish paella
- Risotto Milanese — the classic golden risotto of Milan
- Persian rice — tahdig and saffron-infused rice dishes
- Bouillabaisse — the essential spice of the classic Provençal fish stew
- Saffron ice cream and desserts — a luxurious, aromatic flavouring

How to Use Saffron
Blooming: Always bloom saffron before use. Crush a pinch of threads lightly and steep in 2–3 tablespoons of warm (not boiling) water or milk for 10–15 minutes. Add the liquid and threads to your dish for maximum colour and flavour.
How much to use: A pinch (around 20–30 threads) is enough to flavour and colour a dish for 4 people. Saffron is potent — a little goes a very long way.
Storage: Keep in a cool, dark place in an airtight container. Properly stored, saffron retains its potency for up to 2 years.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if saffron is real?
Genuine saffron threads are deep red with slightly lighter orange tips. When steeped in warm water, they release a golden-yellow colour slowly — fake saffron releases colour instantly and turns the water red.
Is your saffron organic?
Our saffron is naturally grown with minimal intervention in the traditional farming regions of Iran. It is not certified organic but is free from artificial additives and colouring.
Can I use saffron in baking?
Absolutely — saffron is wonderful in Swedish saffron buns (lussekatter), saffron cake, panna cotta, and custards. Bloom it in warm milk before incorporating into your recipe.
